September 2008 event and meeting
There will be a shogi event on 13.09.2008 at the South Bank Centre [festival map] as part of the Thames Festival Japanese Jamboree. We will probably run a tournament between 12 and 5pm, and should also be able to discuss shogi or just chat. Just look for the shogi boards.
There will also be a regular Saturday meeting of the London Shogi Club on 27.09.2008. David Faldon will be around from 10am at Caffe Nero, 10 Bedford Street, London WC2E 7HE. [map]
Everyone is very welcome to both of these, regardless of strength or experience.

Was it held shogi tournament during Thames Festival Japanese Jamboree? It's interesting to know about this event in more details.
Best regards,

We didn't run a tournament, but played Shogi on tables around the central performance area of the Japanese Jamboree. We had information about shogi on a notice board and on the tables. Quite a few people asked about shogi. A number of them had a go at playing, and we let them know about our regular meetings and the Shogi London website. Otherwise it was more like a meeting of the London Club, except that we would occasionally stop to watch the Taiko drumming or the giant calligraphy.
